Accidental Question

A while back at Seaside Therapeutic Riding, my boss was talking with one of the student's mothers in the stables. The child was in a stall helping us groom one of the horses. Now, at Seaside Therapeutic Riding, we work with handicapped children with problems from down syndrome to autism. The child had never spoken a word. My boss accidentally asked the child what the name of the horse was. Now I am letting everyone know the horses' name is Baba Loui. The child replied "Baba."

Black footed penguins

This story takes place at the New York Aquarium, specifically at the Black footed Penguins, otherwise known as the Jack ass Penguins because their call sounds like a donkey, exhibit. I was at work for my first summer as a Docent*. My Volunteer Coordinator was doing the usual rounds in the morning to check that we were at our posts and what lunches we were taking. She decided to take a pit stop a t the Black footed Penguins exhibit to watch the feeding that was taking place. After a couple of minutes of watching the penguins, she looked up and to her left. She got spooked. For about 10 seconds, she thought that there was a penguin on top of the rocks next to her. It was really a Laughing Seagull. Just in case people are wondering what a Laughing Seagull is, It is the Seagull with the black heads.

*Docent means volunteer teacher. I started volunteering at the age of 14. We, the docents, go through training, followed by writing a paper about an animal. If we complete that by the end of training then we are allowed to volunteer. Each year after, we are only required to turn in a paper.
